Afternoon crew

Afternoon crew, originally uploaded by tewold.

Afternoon crew after a very cold day of hard work. L-R Gary, Harvey, Jared, Rich and Faris. Steve was doing something in the house so missed being photographed.

Clean-up

We worked on Saturday until 4 pm. Gary went back on Sunday to finish the siding. THANKS Gary! The crew worked hard to clean up the lot before ending their day of work. Appreciate your willingness to serve in a quality filled manner guys. Trinity volunteers are SUPERB!!

Siding

After covering the walls with tar paper, work began on the vinyl siding. Leftover shingles and siding from the house were used so the building matches the house- pretty impressive indeed!

Tar papering the walls

The outer walls are usually covered with plastic sheathing. We ran out of the expensive sheathing but had left over tar paper from roofing. So with a little creativity, supplies got used effectively.

Shots of Tery and Pat working. Tery inspected the malfunctioning air exchanger in house. Pat installed the door and lock. They worked hard and it was a delight to have them join us for the morning.

Our loyal hostess Becky Smeltzer, volunteered to stain and varnish the closet doorknobs and door edges that got missed. Thanks Becky- you did a great job!

PA Students

Two PA students came down on Saturday to help build the shed. They had both done construction before so Gary and crew greatly appreciated their expertise. Here is Tery Hursh from Montana. Looks like you are enjoying your break from studying Ter! THANKS!

Note the efficient crew nailing the stud wall together. Left to right is Steve Aabye, Tery Hursh, Pat Litster, Rich, Chuck, Lucas, and Jared. After the stud walls were built for the shed then sheets of plywood were attached to secure the wall. We had an excellent crew for the morning. Thanks everyone.

Trinity speakers

Cindy Nolte, Trinity president, gave a greeting. She shared as an aside how proud she was of her daughter, Angie. Pastor Steve led a "House Blessing" which reminded us all of God's presence in the midst of this special project. We pray that God will continue to bless the Abdulla family as they settle into their new home.

Presenting the keys

Harry Bosch, from the Habitat Board of Directors, had the honor of presenting Faris Abdulla with the key to his new home. Very EXCITING!!! Habitat also presented the family with an evergreen shrub.

Angie Schulz was the host for the Dedication ceremony. Mayor Mark Voxland spoke(he is also a Trinity member and his company did the electrical work for the home- quite a gift). Linda Sailor spoke. She is a representative from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Thanks everyone for participating in the Dedication event. Most of you have helped in some way with the project- having you there felt like a "family reunion". THANKS!

We were fortunate to have the media come to record the deication of the house. Here is a shot of the camera men getting ready for the ceremony.

Shed Floor

Work started on Saturday to build the shed. Habitat always provides an 8'x12' shed for the family to keep lawnmowers, shovels, bikes and tools in to keep the yard neat. The home does not have a garage or basement so this will be a welcome addition.
